Did you figure this out? I have a Soto Windmaster where I initially modified the 4 leg support to work with a Micro Mo and it works perfectly with the Sterno pot as well. Just a modification to the support and the pots remain untouched. How much surgery would be required on the Sterno pot to use with the Soto stove? I have the Soto windmaster stove (currently use with a toaks pot) and also have the old JetBoil Flash. I've been considering hacking up the Flash pot fins to fit with the Soto since the efficiency with the toaks sucks, especially in even light breeze. The Sterno is cheap and I'd like to keep the JB untouched for use at fish camp and base camps.
I havent yet, but your post makes me more confident it will work. I'll probably order up the sterno pot and see what I can do.Did you figure this out? Hi BBob... quick question. Do you expect that the sterno inferno pot will hold up to the output of the soto windmaster stove? 10 minutes into this vid, the pot melted on the gas stove.I cut them off a little long with snips and finished to size on a belt sander.
That MSR Superfly (I used to own one) has a much larger diameter burner than the Windmaster so I can see how it overheated the pot where it did using it like that. With the modified pot support the Windmaster sits high up under the pot with the smaller burner right under the bottom. At full throttle I'd bet the Windmaster would still melt it but you don't need to run it anywhere near full throttle to get good performance out of that combo. It's sort of a judgement call at how high to run it but it wasn't a problem for me and I'd say I ran it at a bit less than half output. I put my hand right up next to the vented ring to judge how hot it was and adjusted the output from that. I can't remember the exact times right now (I posted in a thread somewhere the time and the amount of fuel used to get to a boil) but that pot with the Windmaster at partial throttle will equal or beat my Jetboil MicroMo. I've since switched to the BRS for my lightest setup. I've also trimmed the BRS pot supports to make it easier to slip the pot on and off and I don't run it full throttle either to get best performance out of it.Hi BBob... quick question. Smaller is always welcome and seems to be a byproduct of getting things lighter and efficient. As my pack weight has shrunk pack size has shrunk as well. My optics load has gotten heavier and bulkier so something had to giveWhat I really liked about your approach was that it kept the over size of things small.
