Two questions as a Colorado mule deer newbie here.

Hunts I find advertised do not include tags (landowner vouchers), correct?

I currently have two deer points in CO. If I buy a landowner voucher to hunt that unit (whether just private or entire unit), that resets my points back to zero, correct?

The whole point of the pay-to-play landowner voucher system is that you don't burn points and get to spend $$$ to go hunt units that would take us peons decades to accrue points for.

Before going too far down that road check to see of the outfitter even has landowner vouchers... Not all do or can be sold out. They can still sell hunts to guys that draw tags.

I think it’ll have to be 2027. New kiddo, hobby farm, more work responsibilities etc kind of catching up with me this year already.

Literally decades. A premier unit issued 6 non res tags between 3rd and 4th rifle. 3 each. Points used were between 28 and 32.

I’m 40 and have 8….. I need to start saving money and not points….

You are already 3pp past good hunts. Pick a 4-5pp unit and go hunt. After 4-5pp you are in no-mans land like you said for literal decades. Hunt 4-5 times with 4-5pp in the time it takes to draw 1 tag in a "premium" unit.

There are trophy class animals in every unit west of I-25 in Colorado. 330+ elk and 170+ deer get killed in 0pp units all the time.

You can't kill one from the couch. Go hunting!

I agree with you. No way I’m holding out 30 years for a tag. I’ll pay to play if comes to that.
