I saw some turret stickers on a scope and thought they might be cool so I bought a set for $8. I didn’t like them as much as I thought I would because they were hard to get straight, and took up too much room while covering up the scope markings. I tried my homemade version and put a strip of clear gorilla tape over the painters tape to keep it waterproof. I would still look at my phone or dope card if I had time, but thought this might be nice for quick shot opportunities.

Some of the feedback on here made me realize my first attempt was bush league. I used calipers to measure the diameter of my turret and calculated the circumference. Made a spreadsheet using my shooting app to record my mils for every ten yards out to 800. Used the spreadsheet to multiply the circumference by the mils for that yardage divided by total mils for one revolution. Estimated each data point on a digital ruler. The final product will look like the second picture without the ruler. Then I will have to adjust the size of it so when it prints it is exactly equal to the circumference. Thinking about buying some sticker paper I can print on to put it on the turret.

Your numbers need to be in reverse order

After some help from the forum, I think I am ready to buy some sticker paper. The third one down looks to be the circumference of my top turret, but I will make sure when I get home. Thanks for the help!

This system makes sense to me. I’ve written yardage on turrets since there was a Farrah Faucet poster on the wall.

About now shouldn’t someone be outraged that it’s so simple and bring up esoteric MIL-related reason not to use it? Lol

For 99% of the guys who stop at 500 yards this is all we need. For the longest distances things like areodynamic jump from crosswinds become important and more precise adjustment is required.

This is my basis, I add the mill markings to my labels so I can see both mils or yds. The yardage works for typical hunting but the marks are there if the app comes out for longer shots or grossly different environmental conditions.

I did some various font sizes and position changes, off the top of my head I forget which one I actually taped on.
