Long story short, I tore my distal biceps tendon April 10th in my left arm and had surgery this morning. KY and TN opened April 12 and I was able to tag out in TN over the weekend and kill a KY bird last Friday. Never had a three day killing streak, and probably never will again, but it was three days to remember!

Now I’m in a full blown cast for two weeks, but I’m determined to figure out a way to get bird number 2 in Ky. Also shot a rio in TX on March 29th.

TN bird #2, 22.6lbs, 1.25” spurs, 10.5” beard.

TN bird #1, 21.2 lbs 1.125” spurs, 9.5” beard.

KY bird #1, 21.2lbs, one broke .5” spur, one 1” spur, 10” beard.

Texas Rio, 17.4lbs, 1”spurs, 9” beard.

Nice job man. After a decade of western turkeys, I am starting to miss hunting easterns.

I filled my tag for two states in two days of actual hunting, but the span of six days. I'm almost a little bummed to be done but have a new job starting soon and probably won't have as much time as in the past. Hopefully, I can find a bird for the lady and maybe get a buddy or two out on the weekends.

I fully understand. Lived in Colorado for two turkey seasons and killed a Merriam opening day both years. I’d go back out just to call and interact with birds, the interaction is what it’s all about.
