So I finally sealed the deal this year and got my first bird. Been trying hard for the last 3-4 years and it finally paid off. I didn’t realize this at first, but the bird I shot my buddy tells me is a dandy.
26lbs
4 beards totaling 23.25”
1 1/8” spurs
So I figured I would come here and see what kind of ideas for mounts you guys recommend. I was thinking full body perched gobble but I’m open to other ideas. Thanks!

That is definitely a nice bird. The only problem with a full strut pose is that the wings cover up the spurs for the most part. Something like this would show off everything pretty well. Just another idea.

Hell of a bird! Got any pictures to share?
I opted for a habitat base. It can set on the ground but also can be hung on the wall. Mikeray is right about the strutting birds covering the spurs a bit, but I ultimately chose the strutting pose because that's how I saw him. He came in strutting all the way across the field.

That is a rare bird and I think a good choice to get it mounted. I think gobbling poses do a good job of showing beards and I would make sure whatever pose you choose shows all 4 beards.

I did something different with mY first. Displays everything but doesn’t take up nearly the space of a full body mount

Soren at spur taxidermy in Tucson did this and he did a great job. My buddy got a similar mount and is also stoked on it.

That’s really cool and unique. I’ve never seen that.

Ya. Same. I was looking to do more than a fan but didn’t want a full body turkey to deal with and had found some cape mounts that people made and put inside picture frames. Soren and my buddy came up with this idea and I’m stoked on how it came out!

Post up whatever you decide!

Half strut gobbling on the roost is probably my favorite it looks awesome, not as hard to clean dust off as a full strut and shows off the spurs and the beard or beards really well.

Whatever you do, don’t skimp on bird taxidermy. Stuff with head gear you can get by on less. True artistry is what birds deserve.
