Trying to confirm seller’s account deleted

I think he was merely pointing out the fees are all the same (someone pays them) in all cases except bank account via F&F.

I don't think sending F&F via credit card and relying on bank charge back is best for the situation of trying to weed out scammers. Just send it G&S imho.
Yeah that's what I'm trying to say, there's zero reason to use F&F in any case unless you're actually sending cash from your bank to your kids out at college or something. Do G&S plus CC and you get some extra protection and the fees are the same.

He’s suggesting folks pay $10 via G&S and the seller gets <$10 due to fees the buyer didn’t cover even when the seller states the buyer needs to cover fees.

Frankly in that case just list the item for $10.80 accept G&S, and state the fee is already included. If someone doesn’t want to pay $10.8 then just move on with life.
Oh I gotcha, yeah that's not a PP mechanism that's a buyer communication issue or a jerk buyer who intentionally ignored it.

all it takes is a phone call. almost everyone who i ever talked to on any forum has been rather friendly and have had some great conversations.

if they are a scammer, it will be pretty obvious within 10 seconds of talking to them, and usually it will be some weird google phone number they use.

This is what I’m saying.

A lot of us went to F&F as a seller because because for a year or 2 PP was sending a 1099 it you did more then $600 year g&s and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna pay additional taxes or do additional paperwork to justify the sale of gear.

I’m also saying there are members on here, usually newbie’s that want to haggle the price on something down to the bare minimum.
They also seem to think packing, shipping & insurance is free.

Some of the low ball offers I’ve gotten on here I just have to delete and ignore the person because it’s so insulting.

I’m also saying I’ve been haggling down enough the fee has bothered me.

I’m also saying I’ve bought and sold enough optics the fees have really added up.
Also as a seller, why in the hell should I have to pay a fee to protect the buyer?

G&S is a detriment to the seller in every way.

Wait until someone ships you back an empty box then makes a claim they returned the item.

PayPal will always side against the G&S provider.

You’ll loose the item and all the money as a seller.

So don't accept PayPal as a payment option.

Yes you'll lose likely over a third of your sale opportunities but you control how you get your money.

It's crazy to think that in this day and age we have to vet the other party rather we are the one buying or the one selling.

Classifieds are a giant pain in the ass.

What payment is acceptable then?

PayPal owns Venmo

Hardly anyone uses Zelle
Cashiers checks can be faked, which means I’m sure a money order can.

Understood and I wouldn't take G&S either when they pulled that mess, but I'm also just selling a few personal items here and there and I understand selling used gear I'm gonna take a loss. When they did the 1099 thing I lost a few sales from people who wouldn't pay without G&S and that was OK with me, items took a little while longer to sell but they still sold.

Rokslide has always recommended not to send anyone money FF that's not actually known to the sender as friends and family. For that reason alone how do you list an item for sale FF only and expect people to comply?

Buying and selling has the associated risk of the other party having notorious intentions. How ever comforible you feel after mitigating that risk should dictate that one party will send the money and the other the item or that you need to walk away from the deal.

It’s simple. If they are not comfortable paying me f&f theyn they are free to not
contact me about my item.

Also you seem to be in able to offer a viable solution for payment.

What is Rokslide going to recommend when sellers start getting scammed on G&S?

If you use the classifieds you are taking a risk, the question becomes if that risk is worth the possible savings and/or getting scammed vs buying new.

I recommend people that are adverse to risk just buy new.

You are solely focus on the buyer and protecting the buyer,

But by constantly suggesting goods and services you are promoting shifting the risk to the seller.

And you also are providing no payment alternatives.

I don’t understand why you are so hot to trot to steer people away from one risk into another, but also do not want to promote a viable alternative.

Sometimes there just isn’t a satisfactory solution for payment.

Everyone do their part by securing your account. That would eliminate 70% of the problems. We would be left with a few scammers who didn’t hack an account and very few discrepancies on item condition.

I have dealt with thousands of classified issues, and the seller is rarely getting ripped off.

I have a solution coming, and some are not gonna like it. But I will.

Cause if we make that mandatory, all we would be doing is fixing 2FA problems for people. We waste WAY too much time helping people with the classifieds as is.

I can't emphasize this enough: I hate the classifieds; it's my biggest time suck.
I don't even deal with the problems and I rather hate the classifieds at this point due to threads like this.

Delete the classifieds and tell people to buy/sell on the Fire?
