Trying to confirm seller’s account deleted

Guys it takes 5 min to jump on a video call and verify the seller of a high dollar item is legit.

Unless someone has recent positive feedback and is willing to jump on a call, they ain't getting paid.

This. Phone call and not an FNG. And more than a 2 minute call, talk to them for awhile and get to know them for real. It makes you both feel better. If you’re not willing to call them or they decline, you don’t do the deal. Period.

The people saying RS needs to do more to protect them from being scammed are hilarious . Take some personal responsibility , please .
Just as all the laws against guns will never stop criminals from committing crimes , or all the drug war laws will never stop drug use , the scammers will find a way around anything implemented to impede them .
As long as there's one sucker looking for a steal , there will be scammers .
Like Smokey the Bear said , "Only you can prevent getting your ass burnt" , or some shit , I forget ...
OP , sorry you got burnt and you took it well , not posting about you personally , but every time this happens it fires up the RS should do more crowd , and it irks me .

I echo people that it’s not hard not be scammed if you invest any effort.

But also, there’s no reason not to have mandatory 2FA here so folks accounts quit getting hacked.

I don’t blame RS, just myself. I have had many successful transactions on here and previously only used G&S for paypal. I made a rash decision and broke my own policy. It sucks but again it’s my fault.

I did use my CC and my dispute is being processed. I have looked online to see if others have been successful in similar situations. The outcome is very dependent upon CC company. If my dispute is successful it’s likely I will get banned from Paypal. A small price to pay imo plus I’ll probably take a break from the used market.

Much of the time they've used the same password across forums and internet sites, because "it's just a forum and I don't need a secure password" and eventually one of the sites gets the DB compromised and coughs up a list of credentials. Then those login combos end up on a list with a bot running around attempting the login all over the web and spits out a list of places the combo works.
