Since you mentioned you hunt all over. You might want to keep in mind some states have weight limits. You're 15lb comment would actually be illegal in some states. I was looking at a chassis option myself and kept consistently going over weight requirements when I included suppressor and optic.

Would love to get into reloading soon but it's just not in the cards at the moment (apartment living)...certainly don't need to spend $2500 but I'm trying to buy once cry once and build a real nice long lasting rifle for myself so I'm trying to set a good budget for it.

Just glad I live in the woods where shots are close cuz out west hunting requires better ($$$$) glass these days.
An older friend of mine who hunted Colorado long ago just used a Weaver K3 for a scope on a Poor Man’s Magnum 8mm/.338 win. my rifle for the last 20 years though.
