I took my puffy jacket with me again last night but I didn't wear it to sleep.
I wore my merino boxers
synthetic base layer bottoms
1/4 zip base layer merino blend shirt (that I forgot I had from costco until I found it yesterday)
Face and neck balaclava
Columbia beanie I could pull down farther over my eyes touching my cheeks
Merino socks under a thicker wool blend sock

The EE epiphany is awesome, I couldn't believe how warm that quilt was while feeling like nothing was laying on me. the 10* rating is surely conservative and using the inflation tube to inflate loft and adding a puffy jacket would surely get me into the low single digits.
This thing is an amazing piece of gear for sure.

Here is a look at the loft with my GF buried under it.

This quilt is all cuben fiber and the only way for air in and out is through the inflation tube
passing through a piece of nylon at the foot of the quilt. All of the baffles are welded instead of sewn.
This was why Tim discontinued them, people would stuff the quilt the wrong way or too fast and blow out the borders between baffles.
I have had no problems with mine and after talking with Tim some, I am confident this quilt will last me a good while to come.

The bad news is, you can only find these on the used market these days.
The good news is, that Tim is reworking the design and we may see the Epiphany return and improved !

You should really just get yourself a pad :)

While two sunshades is innovative, I don't think I would trust them in the mountains. Especially in the winter.

I am, I have to order one. Not sure it will be here in time. I could go pick up a foam ridge rest until then to supplement, I'm still deciding...

Justin, what bivy is that next to your quilt and pad in the pic you posted? Do you stuff both in the bivy or just the quilt in the bivy then both on top of pad?

This is the system that I have in that photo. I put all of it in the Kifaru Med 5 string. When I'm sleeping, I put the pad and quilt into the bivy. There is plenty of room in the Ravon Omni and I have used this system in some cold and nasty weather.

Thermarest Xtherm 15.7 oz.
Tigoat Ravon Omni Bivy 7.2 oz.
Zpacks 30* quilt 15.2 oz.
Zpacks Heximid Solo Plus 5.1 oz.
10 TI stakes 2.0 oz.
Kifaru 5 string md stuff sack 2.5 oz.

Total is 47.7 oz.

Nice! Thanks for that. I'm looking to get a quilt and I like the looks of your system. Sorry to the OP for the thread jack.

No worries, the more info the better for others.

Here is my weight for my setup last night.
BA fly creek 2 with all stakes, pole, nest, stuff sack, and guy lines 2lb 8 oz / 40 oz
Nemo Astro Air in supplied sack 1lb 4oz / 20oz
Enlightened Equipment Epiphany 10* quilt Regular/Regular 22.2 oz
Quilt stuff sack and two straps, 1 pad and 1 body 1.3 oz

Total - 5 lb 3.5 oz / 83.5oz

For this cold weather I increased the pad insulation with:

Dollar store thermal bag 1.5 oz
Two sun shades 1.6 oz each 3.2 oz
SOL Emergency Blanket (not sure how much this one helped) 2.8 oz
total 7.5 oz

combined total 5 lb 11 oz / 91 oz

Given the time of year and temperatures being confronted that weight really isn't a whole lot considering.
And though it seemed like I was adding a lot, I really only added 7.5 oz to a pad I already own
Though a Regular size xtherm with an R value of 5.7 only weighs 15 oz and that would eliminate the need for extra gear and
cut my original weight with my un-insulated pad by 5 oz. yielding a new total of 4 lb 14.5 oz / 78.5 oz

This new weight has me excited for a single digit setup and is probably what I will end up going to.

The additional gear I tried last night of course is not ideal but shows for a few bucks and a few more ounces you can significantly increase
your R value with any pad you have.

tarprent squall 2. mines the tent in the front of justins pic there. i made some modes to open up the inside a little. i would say what i didnt like about it i fixed with that, it would sag a bit when wet and the added lines and gye outs you see in green solved it. in a perfect world id be able to come to a full kneel in my tent but as it is i can sit up and get dressed in this one and its light. two man and under 2 pounds if i remember correctly. plenty of room for me and gear.

From what I can tell, looks like a good job on your mod for tightening up the top. Did you sew or glue loops ?
The TT Notch is what now has my interest. The square footage is much less but the weight, two entries and vestibules have me looking hard.
That is after I purchase an xtherm of course :D
