Hey all, Elk Finder is giving away a free year to one Rokslider, check it out on the Announcements forum:

I am happy to be here as a sponsor and here to answer any questions.

Technically you can't try it out just yet. A Demo video + sample map are a top priority. I will reply back when that is available to play with.

In 2020, I drew an out-of-state New Mexico public land tag and I spent many hours e-scouting and adding waypoints to areas that "looked good". I was successful on opening morning after spending 1 week scouting on foot prior to opening. (It was the only time I ever took more than 5 days off to hunt).

Fast forward and now I live in McCall, Idaho which allowed me to harvest my first archery elk on the second day of the season last year. Like most of us, I did a lot of post-hunt reflection on what went well and what did not. My elk-finding skills had really leveled up, definitely a lot more than my calling skills.

I started building elk finder over 6 months ago because I wanted to know if I could predict elk behavior based on the type of terrain that I found elk in. And today is my first day of public launch!

About Elk Finder:
Elk Finder helps narrow big country into higher-probability areas based on habitat overlap: feed/moisture, bedding cover, slope, access/pressure, and fire/clearcut disturbance.

It is built from elk behavior first, not generic mapping features. I am trying to answer: "Where should I start looking?"

Most of us balance coveted vacation days with family and hunting, and even taking one week off to hunt elk feels so little, and we want to make the best use of our time in getting on elk as fast as possible.

I want serious hunters to help shape what is useful and what can be improved. I am open to any feedback, criticism, and feature requests.
