Im so so glad America woke up
He lost the popular vote so I am not sure if they woke up. I am hopeful though that that interview is sincere and a glimps into the hopeful future. I hope his dad at least respects his son enough to listen to him.

I was actually hoping to not have an all Rep. government this go around for this reason. It is time to make our voices heard and do all we can to oppose this horrible idea.

This is a good point. The R's can run wild and their agenda of exploiting public lands for profit is not good for us. The next 4 years will test us and our willingness to get involved and stand up for our public lands. I really hope Trump (with support from his sons) will honor his statements about public lands.

Maybe now is a good time for members here to point out resources for us all to show our support for public lands.

His sons do appear to be legit hunters.

Overall...as the Don himself would say...YUUUUUGE win for the 2A, big time danger for public lands. His rumored top choice for Secretary of Interior is the founder of Lukas Oil. That's not a conflict of interest or anything, right?

Scary times still but they could have been scarier. Cutting off our foot to save our leg or however that goes, I guess. I agree with the Repubs on a couple front and center issues but there is so much of the party platform I disagree with and federal land is front and center. I hope there are enough of us banded together and speaking up that we can change the platform on that issues.

I would just urge a word of caution in thinking the elections were a bad thing for public lands. Its not as if Trump follows the party line, which is why the entire establishment was against him. Give him a chance and see where it goes.

Funny that we have hunters and outdoorsmen closer to the president than they have been in decades (his sons) and everyone gets butt hurt thinking our public lands are in more danger than if Hitlery and the dems had won.

Gelton, I agree he's better than the alternative. I should rephrase, independent of what happened in the elections now is a pivotal time to set the tone going forward on this issue. You can't "give him a chance and see where it goes". Proactive wins this battle. By the time we see where it goes it will be too late if the tide turns the other way.

It's not just about him either, it's possibly more about the shaping of the entire Republican party platform which leans in favor of public land selloffs as of right now. These aren't front and center issues that garner coverage on Fox news. They are going to be backchannel ridealong legislative issues until we let the legislators know how important it is to us. The shockwaves of the election’s outcome are set to reshape the core principles of the two major political parties in ways that have not occurred in at least several decades. We need Republicans to know their core electorate will not stand for public land selloffs, whether its the hardest core Constitutionalists or rinos like Trump. It is of the utmost importance that we as outdoorsmen and women understand what steps we can take to ensure that future generations have public lands to enjoy in pursuit of fish, game, recreation, and freedom.

Regarding public lands ONLY.

Considering the possible appointees for secretary of interior, the extremely LONG track record of republicans against public lands, their attempts at land transfers and that the Republican Party now has unchecked power in the house, senate and White House it's irrelevant that his sons may enjoy hunting.

There is nothing butt hurt about it. It's called be vigilante.

Is this hunttalk.com or something? Yes liberals the sky is falling, and every acre will be sold on January 21st. Please say hi to chicken little for all the folks that don't think hunting will end as we know it.

But if you'd like to throw your 2cents out there...tell him...

Oh I know it has everything to do with people jumping to conclusions, assuming, etc. Hopefully he'll stay true to his word concerning not selling off public lands. I know the country should've elected the corrupt shrew. But that didn't happen, and we'll just have to make it through these troubling times. We made it this far with our current supreme leader, we might make it these next 4yrs.

On an actual serious note, at least its not Ted "booger eatin" Cruz. Let us not forget, the republican party did not want trump because he didn't conform to party norms (like his stance on public land).

Now lets get back to irrational thinking......

Kinda seems like your the only one doing that.

I feel like its a legitimate concern if people are worried about the person in charge of federal lands. doesnt make them a liberal, doeasnt make them an idiot, doesn't mean they think Hillary should have won. it just means they have concerns, and if you cannot see why they should i dont know what to say.

it will be up to us to make sure that he does in fact live up to his claims. waiting and seeing is not something I am fond of.

I figured as much. You should move to CO or MT, you'd find a large population of like minded one issue voters.

I'll throw this out there since your beloved MSNBC probably hasn't covered it yet. Trump has stated on several occasions that he wants to see public land stay public, and believes public land is one of the thing that makes this country so special. Now I know your favorite liberal DNC ran hosts haven't mentioned that, but its worth noting.

A good way to start, is simply writing our newly elected officials and letting them know how we feel about this issue. They won't know if we don't tell them!

Also joining the organizations (BHA) that standup and fight for us would be a decent start too.

I too am not a fan of "waiting and seeing".
