Where do these 5 stars come from? I don't think I've ever noticed em before. They seem to appear in specific threads for some reason. How does a post earn stars? Is it a mod thing?
Well what passes for a road in the Eastern Sierras is a 4X4 Jeep only trail elsewhere. Tight, steep and mostly sand-covered granite (slippery chit), I tucked the side mirrors in (to squeeze thru the trees) and dropped into some truly amazing country. Here's a quick clip of the journey, the video doesn't do the steepness of the terrain justice. From the top I could not see the trail from the cab because of the angle...had to get out, look down, select an aiming point (tree) and pray I didn't get sideways. <g>
I passed on a couple small bucks and returned early after a week of hard spot and stalk hunting. The weather was not cooperative (either hot and windy or pouring and windy) and after 100 miles of hiking and glassing seeing does everywhere and nothing else it simply stopped being enjoyable. Left five days early...grew weary of getting up at 3am, hiking for hours in the dark and sitting on ridgelines glassing the open country only to see (maybe) one barely legal buck all day. Next month this same area will be loaded but it's weather-dependent. This shot was taken after sitting still for ten hours. Talk about a long sit. My butt will never be the same.
