Does anyone camp / hunt out of the back of their Toyota pickup?
i have plenty, and currently in my baby bed ZR2, my last taco was a short bed as well, and it's fine in nice weather if i can drop the tailgate.... if the weather is bad, i assume just pitch my silex or eolus close to my pickup

i'm 6' even by the way, if that matters

99 Tacoma 6ft bed with a canopy. I have a lightweight cabelas cot that is 6ft. I'm 5' 7"
I had a plywood bunk built but got tired of pulling it out when hauling other stuff.

Double cab, 6ft bed with a mid rise topper for me. I’m 6 ft even so set up at a diagonal and it’s fine. I have a thick rubber mat in the bed so the floor is flat. As long as I don’t have too much other stuff back there, it’s comfortable and plenty of room to get dressed. It’s nice not to have to mess around with a tent.

I don’t have a Toyota Tacoma, but I had a Chevy Avalanche once upon a time. I found a freestanding 5x7 ft tent with fly pretty good if the tailgate was down. I expect there is about that much room in a Tacoma.

Recently, I added a rooftop tent for my SUV camping. Easy to open hardshells are pretty expensive, but since I camp where bears are around sometimes, I preferred to be a bit higher than the ground when I’m not in my full size truck camper.

I have a tundra with a crewmax cab and a topper(5.5 bed). I've slept in it but I'm 6'4 and dang if it doesn't get pretty cramped - especially as I get older. A 6.5 would be MUCH nicer!

Tundra, 6.5’ bed with a soft topper and a wide cot. With the right sleep system it is as comfy as home. It is my preferred sleeping arrangement for run and gun in new states/areas.

I just put a different camper shell on my 96 tacoma, built a raised platform in the bed for it. The platform sits between the wheel wells. I used an old rug to lay on the bed and then another piece to cover the platform. A cabelas bedroll mat is my cushion and I found a two person 0° sleeping bag for it as well. I used it one night last season during a 3rd rifle elk hunt and slept very comfortably in single digit temps. The camper shell is also lined so that also helps.

I have a tacoma with a six foot bed i have slept and camped out of it for hundreds of nights hunting, dirt bike riding and hiking i have a leer top on it sometimes i have to move some of my gear to the front of the truck other than that it has been great it does have a carpeted bed rug in it which saves my old knees if it's cold just make sure you have a good sleeping bag and you will be fine

Ive spent weeks in the back of my canopy. Custom made plywood drawer to sleep on. The only things I would change would be a taller canopy and maybe one of those fancy overland awnings people use.

I have over 370 nights in the back seat of my '16 Tundra Double. Works for me since I am not a fan of toppers. This was last month near YNP.

Don’t have a Toyota but a few years back I bought a 2006 Dodge Dakota as a work vehicle and I put one of the commercial double back swing out doors and lift up side door toppers on it. The truck has a 6 ft bed and that first summer I had it I camped out of it several times and loved it. Put a thick inflatable mattress in the back and at night I could either leave the side doors propped open or leave them slightly ajar for some airflow.

These days I have so much work related tools and materials in it that it’s too much of a pain in the ass to clear out for a weekend of camping. Would love to have a set up like that for camping and hunting trips though. Right now I have a Wrangler and do camp out of that, some times I just lay the front passenger seat back and sleep in there, not ideal but it works in a pinch.

I've been sleeping in the back of multiple tacoma/toyotas over the last 30 years (current '13 taco off road with 6' bed/canopy). All 6' beds with canopy. No custom anything. I just have everything in bins and if it rains I have a tarp to put over everything outside. Simple and easy. It's a little rough when it gets into the teens as far as comfort when waking up in butt ass cold. I can't afford a camper lol.

During duck season I sleep in the back of my 2013 Tx Pro Baja double cab with a leer shell. The back is fitted with a bedrug, but I'm going to need to get a sleeping pad for next season.

I used to sleep in my 1991 Toyota pickup with shell (6' bed) on hunts. I never thought you could get so cold sleeping on a thick foam pad in a 20 degree bag in Early August at 9200'

Now I'd rather use my Canvas tent or stay in a trailer.
