Truck Camping Toyota Pickup/Tacoma

I have before while Coyote or Turkey hunting. I have a 2019 TRD OR Dual Cab with short bed. Just put my gear in the cab, lay a pad down diagonal and it’s quite cozy. I do have a leer canopy with a sliding window which is nice if I want to vent for fresh air at night. Definitely a comfortable option if not camping in the field.

I don’t have a Tacoma but got a roof top tent this year and it has been an absolute game changer. it’s like sleeping at home.

i do ,i have a canopy on my truck and built a carpeted bed platform. the only thing that sucks is i have a 5 foot bed so i have to sleep at an angle to have the tailgate closed.

I have a 2005 tundra double cab (6’4” bed) with a ARE camper shell and I sleep in it often on hunting trips. It works pretty well. I’m seriously thinking of adding a roof top tent on top of my shell for next season though.

‘09 regular cab 4cyl 4wd. Built a little sleeping platform out of plywood and 2x8” with some storage underneath. Pretty simple but effective for spring turkey trips.

2013 Tacoma long bed with an Alu-cab “canopy camper”. The camper came with the truck when we bought it. I was never a camper or roof top tent guy, but I am a total convert now. Most of my hunting is out of a backpack, but as far as car camping goes, I don’t think I’ll ever sleep in a ground tent again.

I use a Kodiak canvas truck tent when out for a few days, I can pick up camp and move areas with ease, plenty of room in it for my kid and I can do 30 mph with it in and not even notice it. If I’m solo for a night or two I just lay the drivers seat back and sleep there.

I sleep under a mid-rise topper. I'm about 14 inches longer than the short bed, so I put something under my neck and back and something under my legs and curl up like a drunk on a loveseat.

I have an 02 Tundra and i have spent probably half my nights out this year sleeping on a cot in the back of it under my topper. The greatest thing about this setup is you are very mobile. If im not finding anything worth going after i just roll the cot up, put my gear in and roll to the next spot.

Wondering how tall you are? I'm 6 feet and even diagonally I don't think I could sleep with the tailgate closed.

I have an 07 Taco double cab with the 6ft bed and a topper. I've slept in it several times. My daughter and I both slept in it while scouting for her elk hunt. I'm contemplating building a platform on one side. I have a small camper trailer but I'm not dragging that out for 1 or 2 nights when the weather is decent.

Yes. Plenty of times. 02 Tundra with a cap. Easy peasy.

ill use my new tundra next year. Don’t expect much to change.
