Going on a second season mule deer hunt in the Troublesome Creek area in Colorado this year. Looking for any pointers on what to pack or hunt strategies. Not looking for your hunt area as I would not share a honey hole either but just some guidance from seasoned veterans of this area. Keep in mind this is my first mule deer hunt and I am a flat lander from the midwest. We have a pack service dropping us off but on our own after that. Without snow I assume we are going to be hunting higher elevations looking for transition areas from bedding cover to food/water? Thanks in advance for any info you can share.

That's good country in there. Classic colorado. Prepare for all four seasons. Since you're getting packed in you can be a little more generous with your kit.

As far as deer, you'll have to figure that out on your own. Start with a high mtn and a good spotting scope. Good luck.

Some good deer in there. They can be tricky to spot depending on where you’re going. Be ready for deadfall and be aware of standing dead that could fall on you or your camp during sudden winds.
