Trophy walls with 8’ ceiling height

Here is my basement with 7’ ceilings. You can do a lot with not a lot of wall height. I have a few heads upstairs on 8’ walls but most of my mounts are down there. I also have a few in the garage but that’s a 10’ ceiling.

Hey all, I have a bunch of friends with 20’ ceilings in their 1 1/2 story and 12’ pours in the basement. I on the other hand have a more standard 8’ ceiling height and even shorter in the basement. I would love to see you all post up some photos of your trophy wall if you have a more standard ceiling height to see how this would look. Right now mainly have whitetail and turkey but will soon be adding other critters.

Thanks and let’s see ‘em!

Ryan

Here is my ceiling. I still am going to try and put a fireplace behind the tahr and move that somewhere. Painted the ceiling black. I have a bunch of African animals coming soon to finish out the wood wall.

That’s awesome. Love the IL pin plaque. I have hunted southern IL my whole life. Hard to even find pins anymore.

Yeah you have to be sure to call around to a few vendors to ensure you find some pins. Also, since I hunt in CWD counties they give us our firearm pins at the check station. For archery we have to just call a few places. I wouldn't have done the plaques if I didn't have every pin from every deer I've killed. I always managed to get my pins so I'm keeping the streak alive.

A well known and respected taxidermist told me that you never look down on a trophy. He even made sure my ram’s eyes on the pedestal mount of my ram, were at least the same height, as mine.

Guess I’m lucky that the local Walmart and rural king pretty much always have em. It is one of the few neat things Illinois does, surprised more states don’t have em.

Generally if there's 3-4 places in town that have them, someone will be out. Or you have to just go to the next town over. Usually it's not all that difficult but some years certain places will get them late or not at all. I have no idea why.

What month / time frame did you hunt NZ. We are booked to head over early to mid April 2022. Stags for sure but will probably just add a tahr on also. Just looking for a comparison on cape length of the tahr. Thanks!

I went to NZ in early May. The roar was definitely over when I was there. But for the hair to be longer they said I should come later April or May.
