Has anyone here ever tried wedging a tripod stand up against pinion or juniper trees for archery mule deer hunting? I found an excellent saddle which is funneling deer thru daily, but found setting up on the ground near impossible to draw my bow. I’ve used my climbing stand in pines very successfully on mule deer. They never look up. So I figure this might work. Thx.

I do it in central TX for whitetail. Works great

Edit. In Ashe juniper

Have done it in the past, before AZ went to draw in the Kaibab. Worked great. Only problem back then was the tripods were heavy to tote around. I'm sure they are lighter now.

Quality ground blind may save a few pounds but not sure how the terrain lays out.

We have done it in the Dakotas for whitetails in thickets of whatever that shit thorny buck brush type stuff grows in Coulees or the hills in central ND. When we used to hunt Mulies in Western ND...we sometimes carved out holes in the scrubby Junipers and only be 5-6ft off the ground...just enough to shoot over some cover or be able to see a crossing. Should work fantastic. May want to trim some branches and zip tie them to the tripod for a little cover in front.
