Kicking around the idea of upgrading my tripod from my manfrotto befree. One thing about the one I have that I kind of consider a con is I can't use it standing. Mind you I have not "needed" to use it standing but it gets almost all the way there, which seems silly. I see advantages and disadvantages to standing or sitting tripods. If you were only going to get 1 tripod would you get a taller, heavier one you could use standing and shoot off of pretty good or an ultralight short one (thinking aziak backcountry or similar) that you could shoot off of better than nothing?

It seems that for me the height of the one I currently have puts it in the worst of both worlds, the weight of a taller tripod but not tall enough.

I am in the process of upgrading my tripod set up. Below is my current thought process.

I am planning to ditch my lightweight tripod that I can glass from standing (shooting off of it sucks). Because if I am carrying it on my pack, I’m finding a spot to sit and glass 10/10 times. I already have a super heavy tall tripod in the truck that I used for glassing from the road (don’t need two full height tripods).

I want to get an inverted tripod that I can glass/shoot from in the sitting/kneeling positions. Just haven’t settled on the exact model/head yet. I don’t see myself ever opting to take a shot standing off a tripod.

Currently I am debating an aziak frontcountry or a sirui. I think the frontcountry on paper I like better but the sirui offerings seem solid for the price.

We have a lot of great options. The Benro Rhino line has a lot of good options. The ball heads in the kits are great to shoot off of. They are all carbon Fiber and they come with 5 year warranties. Give me a call to discuss the options. If you want to order from our website, use promo code promo24 and you will get 10% off on any Benro product. It also will work on Slik, Sirui and Promaster tripods
