Tripod for kids

The full size Bog is the ticket. That was the first one I bought and it quickly convinced me to get a carbon backpacking tripod for myself. Now both come on all whitetail hunts with us when we are in a blind. It's nice to have the clamp style top on the Bog for rifles that don't have an arca mount too. If it won't clamp down enough, cradle the gun in a hoody or jacket. Works great.

Only con is that it's heavy. We hunt private and I'll just bounce it around from blind to blind all year and only bring it back to the shop when I tear stuff down.

If you're not in a scenario where the actual weight of the thing is objectionable, a bogpod is about the most easy-button thing I've ever used for kids hunting on the ground.
I agree with this, weight is the only downside to the bog.

We've used the caldwell field pod first and I like the BOG much better.

We also have a triggerstik that I'll sometimes carry if we're just scouting or walking around and expect a shot opportunity. In some cases I've carried the triggerstik in and out, but packed in the BOG to set up for a still hunt.

I have also carried the BOG fully extended while walking/stalking to use standing and my son actually shot his oryx off it like that. My daughter shot her oryx kneeling off the BOG after crawling within range.
