Trijicon Tenmile 3-18x50 vs Credo 2.5-15x42

I’m looking for a scope to put on my Remington 700 7-08. I’ve narrowed it down pretty close between these two.
Both scopes are SFP. Both are highly regarded here as good scopes. Just not sure if I need the extra mag and extra weight. Being they are pretty much the same scope build wise from what I’ve read.
There is $200 difference in price and 3oz between the two. As well as a few other little details. Trying to keep the rifle weight low as possible also. But being only 3oz diff that may be manageable.
Which would you choose. Open to other options but these two are my top two choices at the moment for the price.

I always like the bigger objective for better overall imagine. But if that isn't that big of a deal to you, I'm sure the credo will be just fine! I have a 3-18 tenmile and it's an awesome scope.

I have the 3-18X50 SFP Tenmile. And also a 4.5-30X56 FFP Tenmile

I have the 3-18x44 FFP tenmile and find myself sometimes wishing it had just a bit more FOV compared to my other 50MM scopes.

I think you will find the Tenmile will be a monstrosity on top of your 7mm-08 Rem 700. I think when it's all said and done you will want something shorter and lighter than either of these two scopes.

The 3-18X50 is no monstrosity at all.

The 4.5-36X56 is an absolute beast though

Seems like they are about the same overall size. The Tenmile being about an inch longer. And obviously bigger objective.
Coming from a vx2 on the rifle I think anything is going to look huge!

I've not used a Tenmile but currently use the 2.5-15x42 and previously used the 4-16x50. I like them both but the 50 had me needing taller rings and having to mod the stock for proper head placement. Not a huge problem but it's an issue to deal with. If you have an adjustable stock then it's a moot point. The 42 is currently on a Tikka in 7/08 and I don't find it overly huge. I'll get a pic up in a bit so you can get and idea.

That’s another thought too. I have a factory stock on the rifle. I know 50 is pushing that point of having to go higher on the rings and eye placement. I reached out to Hawkins regarding ring size and they said the 50 may fit the low rings but may have to run the highs to get clearance. I have a factory barrel so that probably helps with my clearance. If I got a larger dia barrel may be issues there later on.

Do you feel like the 3-18 is good with the SFP? I’ve never used a FFP and I hunt here at home with my scope on 3x 98% of the time. Reason I don’t really want to go to FFP. Besides shooting for fun at range it will stay on low power unless I get a rifle tag. And that’s going to be atleast 2024+

If you hunt on low power, and aren’t doing a bunch of long range shooting and making wind calls and stuff, there’s no need for you to have a FFP. Their SFP reticle is awesome.

I think 18x is too much and the FOV will be too narrow for a SFP and hunting, which is where you’ll need to be to use the reticle. The credo 2-10x56 in SFP would be what I’d look at if you wanted a SFP scope.

I did take a look at those also. I was looking at NF 2.5-10 then started looking at the trijicons since they are half the cost.

For your specific rifle, and wanting to go Trijicon, I'd look at this one. You can use the BDC dots below if you ever take the 7mm-08 out west and want to stretch it out. The fiberoptic (batteryless) illuminated center dot will be perfect for hunting Georgia whitetails in your climber.

In all honesty I prefer the size/weight of the accupoint. I also really like the battery free illumination. I wish it had dialing turrets, but I’ve had great luck using the mil dot holdovers on steel/paper.

What stocks are those? I see they have a little hump in the cheek area. Do you have any issue getting behind the 50 on that setup? Did you have to go with high rings to clear?
