Hey Guys,
Still pretty new here, but after reading for awhile and posting very little, I respect this forum's ability to be subjective and provide in depth feedback. I know i'm not alone, but i'm in need of new glass for a 400-1200 yard all purpose 243 rifle. i'll try to keep it short following my previous post,
Three current options. all FFP and currently looking at MOA Reticles.
NX8 4-32x50
Ten Mile HX 5-25 x 50
Mavin RS3.2 5-30x50 FFP
Due to a work trip, i ended up at a trade show with Mavin, I ended up purchasing the RF 1 Range Finder and speaking with the Rep. Time will tell, but initially, it's a significant improvement over what i had and the glass seems to be rock solid. Again, time will tell, but i'm very happy so far.. but, i need a scope, hence this post.
Looking at the RF 3.2, i cant find any information telling me what the actual "dot" in the scope measures, .2 MOA?
I really, so far... Really like the clarity on the range finder in terms of glass, and while at the show. If the Mavin 3.2 passed the drop test, i'd easily be a buyer, i just have some reservations until i see that.
The NX8 is.... well... an NX8... it seems to be proven, reliable, glass clarity to similar to what i saw today (albeit at a trade show, there's no real relative comparison) I do not "love" the retical, but am assuming its mostly practical and will be dust in the corner if i buy it.
The Ten Mile - I haven't looked through one personally. They seem (atleast the model that was tested) to pass the rock test. On paper i like the reticle. the idea of illumination is cool, but in actual use, it would likely be valuable less than 2% of the time. The finer "dot" in the center is what i like most, something like .125 MOA, as opposed to the .3 MOA grid cross hairs in the NX8.
Anyway, my experience with Mavin (Steven) at the show was great, and despite having a full booth of people, he took the time to answer my questions and be tremendously helpful despite my ignorance. He did mention that the 3.2 received the same upgrades that the 1.2 received that passed the "rock Test". I'd just feel better seeing a solid post before i end up buying another Leupold or Vortex that needs to be replaced.
What would you guys do in my shoes? Formidious or Ryan, anyone testing the 3.2?
