Definitely have to check many different parts of the system.

Tally style ring mount system. Not much to go wrong there. Shook it to see if there was a broken mounting screw. Wiggled everything and nothing was obviously loose. Ring caps were all tight. I loosened them and retorqued to 20 in/lb. Checked the action screws and they were all over 45 in/lb. He didn't want me to tear it apart cause he paid a gunsmith a bunch of money to put it all together and he wants that guy to fix it. He wants me to do his next build even if it is just a factory rifle that has been proofed with quality add ons, taken apart and degreaseed, and torqued to spec.He also could have mounting issues that caused kind of variance.
I would like to know if the rifle shot well with the same rings, but a different scope.
My issue is that when he brought it down 3 MOA, it was still 4" high. His left and right moved when adjusted but the vertical stayed high. I honestly wasn't too involved in him proofing his rifle out as I had my own issues I was working on. My Jeep wouldn't start after we stopped to shoot and I was trying to get someone to come give me a jump start. Turns out that my alternator took a dump sometime while we were driving that day. When my nephew jumped me the jeep fired right up but wasn't charging. Nephew gave me a ride to town and I got my other truck and a battery and alternator. Drove back out in the mountains and changed the battery and alternator in 35 minutes and headed back to town. New to me jeep so I'm glad that happened while it was in the 40's and not -10⁰. When I got it pulled out the regulator had bunch of corrosion and when they ran the diagnostic test for warranty there was no communication from the regulator to the rectifier.Definitely have to check many different parts of the system.

That is why I had him shoot my rifle before I made a decision to post anything. He was good to go with my systems (6.5CM and 223) so something in his system is problematic.Sorry to hear about the vehicle troubles. I would love to hear how this all plays out in the end. There are plenty of companies that make high end optics that don’t make reliable scopes. It would be a shame if Leica was one of them.
