Hello everyone!

I'm interested in purchasing the Accupoint 3-9x40 for my Savage 220 for whitetail hunting. My eyes aren't the very best, especially in dawn/dusk time which is why I'd love having an illuminated dot. I currently have a Leupold VX-Freedom 2-7x33 mounted and I haven't had any issues with it. Mainly looking for a QOL upgrade than necessity.

I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with mounting the Trijicon on a heavier powered firearm.

Thanks!

So you’re probably in the same boat I am. I hunt the cartridge restricted portion of MI. I’ve moved into a 450 bushmaster with a 3-9x40 trijicon accupoint. These trijicons will do just fine on higher powered guns. I like the concept of these accupoints, several guys in our camp run them on their 450s. I’m probably moving to a 1-6 accupoint for next season. I prefer the lower power for where I hunt. There’s a chance my brother will be purchasing my 3-9 for using on his savage 220. But if you want, shoot me a pm, if he doesn’t buy it I can shoot you over a price and pics.

Beautiful buck! I appreciate the feedback. What do you think about the scope for close range, say around 15-20yds?

Thank you for the offer, but I’ll have to pass!

I shot my buck today with that scope at 23 yds on 3 power, no issues at all. my eye just goes to the dot. be aware it does get dimmer to almost go away during the daylight but duplex is fine an I have eye issues

I use a 1-6 vortex pst on my 220. It has a an illuminated red dot that is great in low light. Im not shooting that gun over 150 yards so 6x on the high power is more than enough. I really like 1x or 1 1/2 x on those short shots. Helps me keep my target in the scope after the shot.

Thanks.

So the 3-9 I have is the post style reticle with an amber triangle. I set mine up with a 100yd zero where the top tip of the triangle is the zero. So at short range you can kinda shoot it as a red dot. A sub ~75 yd shot the bullet will land below the zero making the center of the amber triangle the aiming point. I like it. For me and where I hunt shorter shots are far more likely. So I’m probably going to pick up the 1-6 accupoint and throw it on the 450 for next year.
