What do you guys prefer?

I've hunted with both but can't decide what I like better.
This past September I lost a $200 STAN thumb release out on a hunt. I clipped it onto my D-loop and later looked back to see that it was gone! Luckily I had a backup but might just stick with a index finger trigger release. Harder to lose when it's attached to your wrist.

I like a trigger for hunting but it has to be very short so I can grab deep on my index finger

I have a carter quickie and love it

I was using a Wise guy and tried the STAN Shootoff TL (blackout) thumb release this past summer...it significantly helped me. I am with you on the missing the wrist strap. I kept the STAN in my pants pocket till it was game on. For me it helped with target panic and really helped my grouping.....a lot more consistent. I really like the trainer lock pin that lets you practice without firing the bow.

Stan Shoot off here! Love it, helped improve my groups, love the fact its not getting in the way when Im in the stand.

I prefer a thumb release and use a Stan SX2. When I am moving, I keep it in a pocket. When I am still hunting or up in a tree, only then will I hook it on the d loop. I used to leave it hooked up, but it fell off after getting bumped at the 3D range. I found it and considered it a lesson learned. That being said, I am looking for a new thumb release with a lanyard.

It's sort of a difference between what you want and what you need. The trigger release is undoubtedly more natural to use, but with target panic and the way people set their shot sequence and practice, the thumb release works better for some guys.

I don't know anything different from a trigger release.....that's all I've ever used, and it works very well IMO for all my shooting so see no need to change it up.

All I've ever shot is a trigger, but am going to try the Carter Nock2It (Thumb) and Silverback (Tension) this year for practice. Unsure if they'll make the cut for hunting.

When I started archery it was and still is 100% for hunting purposes. But I enjoy shooting the 3D tourneys and such, and even a little winter indoor competition to keep shooting year round. But even indoors........I still wear my camo hunting gloves that I wear hunting.......because everything stays the exact same as it is during hunting season. I'd sure hate to switch back and forth between the two.

By the time I get to hunting season - I'll be practicing exclusively with what I'll be hunting with. This is more for the off-season to see if it helps with shot process and execution.

Prefer a thumb release but do shoot a trigger from time to time. I've shot a truball release for years and for those looking for a thumb release with a lanyard, they've got a pretty neat lanyard system that can be attached to their thumb style releases. As far as hooking it on my loop, like many others, I've learned the hard way and keep it stowed in my AKG bino harness or in a pocket when on the move.

i'm not certain i'm any better with one over the other but i prefer the thumb release. i like the fact that it gives me some freedom with my shooting hand by not having the release always in the way.

Thumb all the way. Fixed my target panic with it and it is more convenient to hunt with than a wrist strap.

I''m headed this way. I have normal target panic and my wifes got really bad with a wrist strap. Starting with a fresh slate and new thumb releases by Carter.
