Trekking poles vs dedicated sticks?

Picked up a durston tent recently. Debating using my trekkers with it or picking up their z flick poles. Would be nice to leave it actually standing not just staked but there’s a cost.

What do you do?

I bought the z flick poles. I like having my trekking poles with me during the day, especially if I have to pack meat out.

I have never brought dedicated poles for my supertarp because I have been good leaving my trekking poles behind. No sense in carrying both for me.

If I'm just backpacking, I just bring the old man canes. If I'm backpack hunting, I bring the durston poles, compact and lightweight. I prefer to leave my tent standing and always have my old man canes with me.

I have a no-stretch dyneema cord cut to length for my shelter pole length (knot if 2 sizes). I take out my little swiss saw and cut a dead pine sapling or top. Side benefit is you can leave some stick stubs to hang things.
We have done this on large shelter also using a bigger dead tree.
