I will be traveling to Canada in the next week and am taking a crossbow instead of a rifle. I will be traveling by air. know what the regulations are for the firearms, I am wanting to make sure I haven’t missed something. My understanding is, you don’t have to have any paperwork just declare it when you go through customs. If someone with experience can confirm I would appreciate it.

Shouldn't need any paperwork since they're not regulated up here at all. Might want to just check off the weapon box on the customs card. They'll ask you about it (probably take a quick look) and let you carry on. I have only flown to NZ and back with a compound bow from inside canada, no issues without any forms
