Since we don't have a board for this I figured this was the place to post a question about trapping. Moving to Idaho Falls area in about 5 months and wondering what the trapping out there is like. I know a lot of people go after coyotes, wolves, and bobcats but I enjoy muskrat and coon trapping. Any opportunity for taking in some fur out there? Mostly it seems like sage brush but what about irrigation ditches? Even with fur prices down its something i'd like to continue.
Thanks

Yep, they got rats and coons but it's not like Michigan. Actually, I'm not sure what Michigan is like but I hear you can really go after rats and coons there. There will simply be less water trapping opportunities because yes, a lot of it is high desert. Since your moving there anyway, put some traps in and then you'll know.

Thanks for the help guys, sounds like still a possibility but lower opportunity. Just a trade off I guess. Might have to get into predator trapping!

Moved to Idaho Falls from Ohio about 10 months ago- I’ve seen a total of one scraggly raccoon. A far cry from the corn fed giants we had in Ohio. I see coyotes constantly out in the desert

We grow big coons here in Ohio.
