Been shooting my Samick Sage off a Bear weather rest for the last 4 months. I want to transition to shooting of the shelf soon but would like some advice. What is a good nock height to start at? Should I build up my shelf?

I’m excited but have some hesitancy after having success tuning and hunting off the elevated rest.

Set it to 5/8", no need to build up, it's possible you may need to build out if you had a good tune with the weather rest, all depends on what you use for rug and strike plate material

Can you explain all this to me? When you say build out, are you talking about adding material to the bow? Like on my ilf riser, there’s just a screw that I could adjust but on a wooden bow they don’t have that. I’ve sort of been under the impression that with a wooden bow you change the arrow around but with an ilf bow you adjust it to the arrow. Sorry, pretty green on the trad thing.

So on bows that don't have a plunger, you can use a thicker material on the strike plate to build it out similar to moving your plunger or whatever out, if your arrow is weak you build it out, if arrow is stiff you use a thinner material, some of us that have extra long draws don't always have the luxury of trimming arrows to tune. However you do it, you want to make it so it's easily repeatable to replace and durable.

I will use a match stick slid between my riser and the pad to build the centershot out. Sometimes I'll wittle it down a bit, so it's not very thick at all, but gives a smaller contact area. Normally start without anything, if I am getting a weak reaction I build it out a little.

If you have a Berger hole you can get a plunger of course.
