Yep I incorporate those on “leg” days twice a weekStep ups would help too.
I feel like these hikes help with that mental preparation as wellDid a mtn goat hunt two years ago. Severely undertrained due to a herniated disc. Mental state plays a huge factor. Stay mentally strong and you’re gonna be alright.
That will definitely help get you into good shape and break in the boots if needed. What part of BC are you going for your hunt?Live in Southwest/Central PA. This is the best terrain I have available for training for a hunt. Sandstone boulder outcrops at about 2600’. Just going to focus on time in these areas testing my gear and staying in shape.

I was carrying 25lb in my pack . I agree it’s the best way to get your body conditionedIn addition to the hiking, I suggest wearing your pack with something heavy in it so you become accustomed to carrying weight on your back.
Yes I’m using my hikes to see what works best. We have plenty of trails to hike but I’m focusing on off trailI think the biggest thing is keeping your feet in shape, tough, all the rest is just mind over matter. Finding a boot that works under sever hiking conditions is paramount. I've seen the hardest of men fold due to messed up feet i.e. blisters.

I’ll work up to 40lbsUse your pack frame strap a 40lb of water softener salt to it. Walk up and down the hill with your hiking boots and you’ll be ready.
This morning I was trying my meindl vakuum hunters so far they are the most comfortable boot I’ve tried not the stiffest I wish they had a tad more ankle support but they stick to the rocks very wellI think the biggest thing is keeping your feet in shape, tough, all the rest is just mind over matter. Wow nice!Looks like you've got a good training slope. Booking a cheap flight to Denver or Salt lake to do some day hikes on a long weekend wouldn't be terrible either. Here's some Kootenay Goat country (south of whiteswan lake)
All my experience hunting goat is in the northwestern part of the province but the East Kootenays are known to have lots of goats and is beautiful country. Good luck on your hunt and happy training.South east BC east kootenay mountains
