Is there any place that I can get a sample week of the train to hunt workout program. I would hate to buy a month subscription just to look at the workout programs and see it won't work for my schedule or the results I want. Is it 6-7 days a week, all at once or split up, muscle building or just increase cardio fitness?

I currently train 6 days a week, usually 5 days with weights at the gym at lunch (45-60 mins) and hit cardio 6 times a week in the evenings (elliptical or jogging with the dog) at least once a week To every 10 days or so I throw on a 60 lbs pack for 4-5 miles.

I want to keep the gym portion at lunch as it at my peak energy levels and keeps me awake for the afternoon (office job)
goals are to keep LBM high and increase both my definition and cardiovascular system. I am into my 40's at 5'10" 186lbs and about 11-13% BF?( flat stomach, can see upper ab definition). will the train to hunt program work for me?

I think there is a trial week going on right now. It usually consists of 5 workouts a week with 2 rest/recovery days. Most workouts have both a strength and conditioning segment, sometimes they're combined into one workout. In general I would consider it a crossfit type of program, but geared towards hunters incorporating lots of weighted pack work and shooting into the WODs.

I started the Train to Hunt program about 2 months ago. I was in a rut with my workouts, and the variety of the workouts is a lot of fun. Like Ceby7 said, I think he is running a free week on facebook. He mixes in bow shooting with the workouts, so depending on your work situation, you could set up a target outback or do it when you get home. I had to get creative to get everything in. Good luck!

Edit: I am in my late 40's and keep myself in decent shape. I have done a lot more Cardio than weights. Train To Hunt has got me lifting more. I can really feel the results. I have also cut down on the amount of cardio I do. I am 6'1" and on the thin side. My weight has remained the same, but I am definitely getting stronger. Kenton (of Train to Hunt), recommended Ben Greenfield's book: "Beyond Training" It has a ton of information, almost to much, but it has changed my ideas about workouts, nutrition, and how to go about it. Check it out.

We do indeed have a free week going on right now. Would guys like it if I posted up a W/O from the site weekly on here?

I'm looking to switch things up. I tried Crossfit and it was a blast, but $165 a month is crazy when I have 3 kids. Its great to have the coaching and workout partners, but hard to justify.

I have a gym at work I can use for free so I have much of the needed stuff. For those of you have started this what dry bags did you use for your sandbags? I'm going to have buy two so I can leave a setup at the work gym and one for my garage. Specifically the one with the handles on it. ??

I'm trying to make sure I take advantage of what the gym has then add a few extras in the garage to keep at it. As long as I take my pack back and forth, and get two sets of sandbags I think I can do 90%+ of the workouts as prescribed. I am going to look at Brock's examples next, but curious as to what equipment others were using to get it done.

Thanks!

I use the brute force sandbags. I've used that thing hard for a couple years and it still looks brand new, everything from throwing around my workout area to strapped to my pack for weighted hikes. Great product.

I used some extra dry bags. A buddy of mine got a contractor grade garbage bag, filled it with 75#, then wrapped the whole thing in duct tape. It works surprisingly well.

The dry bags work great. I am eventually going to order a real sandbag for the handles. A barbell is my next purchase.

I checked those out. They seem pretty burlier. What size(s) do you find the most helpful?

I have the 75 pound model right now, it's made up of two interior bags, each 40 and 30 pounds if I'm remembering correctly.
