Just a note on my recent experience with Tract Optics customer service. I thought my Toric scope was not tracking properly so I removed it to send back to Tract for repairs. On removing the scope I saw that the rings had pinched it pretty severly. I had used an inch/pound torque wrench set for 18 inch pounds but it obviously was not calibrated properly.

After a rodeo with the USPS Tract received the scope. On receiving the scope Jon LaConte informed me of the ring issue but said he would test it the following day. The next day he sent me a target indicating that the scope was still operable And that they would send me a new one. I replied that I didn't expect that as I had caused the problems in the first place.
His reply was that Tract Optics believes in taking care of their customers and a new scope would be in the mail the following day. Also, I had sent numerous emails discussing the problem and asking for a recommendation for a new torque wrench. In every case he responded immediately.

I am more than satisfied with their customer service and warranty. I was already very happy with the scope and following my interaction with Jon, I won't hesitate to recommend their scopes and service in the future.

Tract has top notch customer service and are also great people. I have talked with both Jon’s quite a few times over the years at the Harrisburg outdoors show, and they are great guys who you can tell really care about their customers.

He recommended the Capri 10-50 inch pound version. I just bought one on amazon for ~ $124.00. He said he had used the fat wrench and found a lot of variation so he changed to the Capri.

Thank you for the response! I will check out the Capri. I do have a Fat Wrench that I have used for years now, but I'm always looking for something newer or nicer.

Great info. Thanks for sharing. Have looked at that brand recently as well as the Maven optics

Hi,
I am new to the forum and optics world.
I started my journey by accident with Nat Geo-branded 10x42 binoculars, and after two years, I am looking into purchasing my first pair of good binos. Used TRACT is what I am after. Now here is the question. Is their warranty transferable? I checked their website and couldn't find anything. Thank you in advance. I am looking forward to this new hobby of mine and everything there is to learn about it.

I have a pair of Tract 8x42 binos, which I love, and the warranty is fully transferable. I have met the owners of Tract a few times and they are great guys, and if you have any questions just shoot them a message on their website and they get back to you pretty quickly.

I also got an email earlier from them and they are having a 25% off demo sale, and they have 10x42’s at a good discount.

I'll definitely check out the link you sent.

I like their products but haven't bought anything from them lately. They were heavy on the MOA and light on MIL when I needed mils. Also, I didn't care for how they handled the drop test fiasco. I do think they are good guys though.

I'll look up the drop test fiasco. I've seen used 10x42 for around $400. It's right within my budget. Vipers and BX4 are in the budget as well but from what I've learned so far TRACT is a better glass than those two.
