Is there such a thing as too stiff of arrow spine? Has anyone had any issue with this? Archers advantage is saying that 300 is perfect spine for my setup but I like the idea of using the 250 gold tip platinum pierce just in case I decide to add some more weight. 70lb hoyt defiant with 29.5 inch draw is the set up.

Only time I have found it to be a minor issue is with low draw weight and short draw length combinations. Other than that it’s a non issue with hunting set ups.

I shot 300 spine out of my Z7 at 70lb 27" draw and they tuned fine. Archers advantage had them at too stiff but they shot good for me. I'm shooting 340's out of my halon right now but may go back to 300's this year.

I'm sure there is a too stiff spine, I however always shoot one spine heavier than the charts say. If I was right on the line I'd probably drop down 2. You can always add a little weight up front, and if your bow isn't maxed out on weight you can always bump up a few pounds. Easier to adjust for an overspine arrow than under in my opinion but that's only because I made that mistake a couple times while trying to learn how to do it all myself.
