I pretty much have all the classic hunting calibers covered up to the 7RM. I do keep a loaner for kids and lady friend in the safe. Nowadays, if I sell one of my rifles it's to trade up or upgrade in quality.
Only thing I'll add is my dad wasn't into the outdoors. I had to buy all my own rifles and it totally delayed me getting into hunting until college. I would have loved having a few firearms passed on to me when I was a kids.
Keep a battery to hand down to your kids!
1 rifle
1 shotgun
1 22
1 handgun
You will set them on a great path and give them a full battery to go hunting with and take almost any game in NA.
Im in the minority. I have one pistol, one shotgun and one rifle. I’m building a custom rifle and will sell the other one once it’s done. Then my plan is to use them until they break beyond repair or I die.
I don’t see the appeal of owning a dozen rifles. Between the rifles, scopes and any other caliber specific gear that’s a lot of money and time I could spend on hunts or other experiences.
