Too many hobbies?

If your garage or basement was a sporting goods store, how many departments would there be? I don’t even want to start thinking about accumulated value. Here are mine:

-Hunting
*MW deer hunting gear
*archery
*mountain hunting gear
*waterfowl
-camping
-firearms
-mountain and road cycling
-golf
-snow shoeing
-kayaking
-fishing
-hockey
-minimal baseball and football

This doesn’t even include my kids either. Ughhh

4 bikes and 9 snowboards + all the necessary tools, tuning/waxing equipment alone is fairly hefty. My place is pretty small so I finally broke down and got a storage unit and am moving stuff in and out seasonally. I also started working a side hustle this year to help support my thirst for gear

What's bad is when your subcategories and subs of those start piling up:

Fishing then fly fishing then ultralight fly fishing and on and on



I have made a conscious effort recently to cut back and concentrate on fewer pursuits. One thing I think about is how much better I would be at archery if I stop surf fishing for example. Spend less money and time on those things that are the least enjoyable and you are less likely to actually do on a regular basis.

I gave up other hobbies to focus on hunting. Hiking and backpacking only exist gear and time wise as they relate to hunting. A few years ago I tried golf, then had a crappy day shooting my bow and realized I had been spending too much time at the driving range instead of keeping myself ready for archery season. Dumped my clubs in the trash that night. I only fish a couple months a year to keep that from interfering with hunting or scouting. Got back into camping this year; I like it, but feelings are a little mixed on whether or not it’ll become a problem.
