Tonneau cover suggestions

I have a new GMC 2500 with 6.5’ bed. Always had toolbox or camper shell on other pickups but thinking tonneau cover now. I like the idea of covering gear, tools, etc with flexibility to haul bigger loads (like firewood) without hassle of camper shell.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I've had a Truxedo soft cover on my F150 since 2008. It's not 100% watertight (some water will leak in around the edges), but it's good enough for my needs. I like the ability to roll it up and not lose any space when I'm hauling something taller than the bed walls.

+1 truxedo. Easy install, easy roll for hauling. Keeps stuff dry. 4 years on mine, still looks new. A buddy parked his atv pinching his between the bed and atv bumper, that and roughroads wore a little hole but they are pretty solid

Everyone I’ve known that had a hard cover hated it. Might as well buy an SUV because your truck bed flexibility goes down massively.

Most that have truxedo or something similar enjoy their setup.

I’ll add this-set up from in box to completion is 15 mins.
As Coop Said, they wear very well over time. Access is super fast.
This is the one truck mod/upgrade that has no equal in my experience.
It rolls up nice when I load quad in bed.

I use a tyger roll up cover. They make a couple different versions and they won’t break the bank.

+1 for this. A bit $$$ but worth it IMO. I have had one on my tundra for 4 years. Security could be defeated pretty easily but it does provide a bit. You can flip it up in sections to open up the whole bed. I love mine and don’t think I would get another truck without one.

I’ve had two Access covers on two different trucks and they were awesome. The soft rollup is so versatile.

My last tonneau cover was a Truck Covers USA and that thing was bullet proof. Just as functional as a soft roll up but way more secure. You’ll definitely pay way more for it, or any other canister type roll up. If you see any type of cold moisture, Retrax is supposed to be the best as it doesn’t have individual slats and can be opened with snow & ice on it.

I’ve switched to a camper shell and am loving it. Not nearly as functional as any roll up cover, but I have trailers if I need to haul something.

I was torn between a shell and a tonneau cover. Everyone who had a shell said it worked great for hunting but hated driving with it everyday. I didn't know if a tonneau would give me enough storage room. So I went with the cheapest option of a descent truxedo. I am glad I did and it works good. Fortunately it doesn't leak. You cant see what if anything is under it so I think that helps with security but I am not kidding myself. My coolers are locked to the bed. I don't leave anything back there that I would hate to replace. I would be more worried with shell where they could see whats in there. I thought I had the best option until my cousin showed up with a hard tonneau cover. Not sure if its a diamond plate but its made of metal and if I recall covered with a vinyl and opens in three sections. I will go that option next time. I have yet to need to haul something where that system wouldn't work for me.

Thanks for all the suggestions - gotta admit the truxedo looks like a solid option and if Team4 is a leatherneck that adds another star. Diamond one looks great but too permanent for my needs. Will check the others out too - you all saved me a bit of time, really appreciate it.
