Toes hitting boot tip

So I brought a pair of Crispi Nevadas and they seem to fit really well. Went turkey hunting. This week and noticed that when walking down a fairly steep incline my toes would slide to the tip of the boot. When going uphill or flat I don’t notice any slippage. Is this a problem with how I lace my boots?

Thinking this will be a huge problem out west elk hunting. Looking for solutions.

Yes, "Toe Jam" is a big problem.

Remove your "stock", factory insoles. Get a set of heat moldable foot beds, they will lock your arch into place and help prevent your foot from sliding forward. I use SOLE brand "Dean Karnazas" heat moldable insole (Newly rebranded as: SOLE Performance Medium Insoles. You heat them to about 200 degrees in your oven, then stand on them in your socks as they cool (doesn't hurt).

Awesome product. NOTE- I had to heat mold my 2x to get the perfect fit.

Never ever had toe jam, even in the steepest, off-trail downhill terrain with heavy pack. Never ever had completely tired feet.

i would guess either too small or too loose.

When trying on boots, always slide your foot to the front of the boot and make sure there is at least a finger thickness of space behind the heel. I have a low arch and use Sole insoles. I also snug the laces over the arch and use an overhand or surgeon's knot to keep the tension on the laces.

Try different lacing techniques....plenty of videos of how to lock your heel in place by lacing. If it does not work, then you probably just need a half size bigger.

How much space is behind your heel if you jam your toes all the way to the front of the boot? You should have 3/8" of space behind your heel.

I have the same issues with my Nevada’s, mine has gotten a little better as I am breaking them in. About ten miles on them now, but reading this thread I am def going to give those sole inserts a shot

Crispi have a very sloppy heel pocket imo, very problematic but I didn't like much about their boots

Not unless you want even worse pain. Change your lacing technique, different insoles, or find a pair of boots that fit your feet

I'm sure the folks here recommending the Sole insoles had excellent results with them and they may very well work great for you. I find that a less flexible insole with a deep heel cup like the Superfeet Orange works better for me. Your mileage may vary.
