To tripod or not

Well that concludes it then I'm dropping the spotting scope. I do have a buddy that has a set of 15x56 binos might see if i can borrow those.
Definitely do that! 15's are a game change in terms of initial spotting. Spotting scope... to me.. seems like... Ok, now that you've spotted them with the binos... you're picky and you wanna be able to tell this particular one has like this most amazing rack, and you're wanting to verify that part of it... before you set off on trying to make a plan to creep up on him.

Has anyone tried a hiking pole that has an camera/bino attachment on it? If you already have hiking poles, this might be good dual purpose item...

Something like that can be helpful for taking a shot or photo. But for glassing, you really want the tripod.

It's the magic of the FOV being held still that lets your predator eyes instantly snap-in to any little movement such as an ear-flick or a tail-flick behind a bush.

And if it's just binos... it doesn't *have* to be thee most stable tripod of all time. But that can become more of an issue if you're in a windy area though, and your subject is far enough away.

I have to say, a tripod is worth it’s weight in gold, I would pack it even if it was 6 pounds. I see most bears glassing first thing in the morning for deer with binos on a tripod.

Absolutely right. I never leave my tripod and 15s behind
