I am in the market to swap the barrel on my Tikka T3X 300WSM 20”. I cut back the factory barrel shortly after purchase since it always wears a suppressor on the end. It’s been ok for accuracy with my hand loads, nothing bad but also nothing stellar.
I am finally at the time that I want to swap the barrel, and originally was wanting carbon fiber due to weight and overall looks, but after digging into the topic I have decided against carbon fiber.
In that research, I came across PVA barrels, and am mostly set on their .75 taperless with spiral flutes to keep as much weight off as possible. While talking to Ben on the phone, we discussed their new titanium sleeved barrels since weight was one of my criteria while maintaining a decent profile for the suppressor and overall looks. All in, it’s only $100 dollar difference between the two barrels.
While I have no doubts about the quality of the PVA barrels, what is the consensus on titanium sleeved barrels? The next technological leap? The next barrel fad?
