Titanium Hunting Suppressors

I have a Rugged Alaskan Ti,very pleased with it and it's suppression. It has been on my 300WBY,300 RUM and 6.5PRC.I've had no issues with any of the rifles.
My only complaint thus far was the cost, but that's all.

I don’t own a Ti Suppresser and I realize this thread is about that topic, but… if it’s you hunting rig maybe there’s other options. There are plenty of great suppressers that fit the bill.

All of my hunting rigs are ultralight and several are threaded. When I backpack in to my spot, in the dark the supressor is in my pack. The added length makes it too tall to be beefed cal in my pack.

I say all of this just to say - one cold barrel shot the animal will not know the difference in Ti or others.

I understand you want what you want - just seeing the problem from a different angle sometimes help to get to the top of the climb.

Love my OmniCan on my 243 Kimber Adirondack, it’s a Lilia re-barrel. Since they didn’t make Adirondack in 243. The balance is fine for the one shot I need it to be.

I have one too… I love mine. It is not as quiet as others, but it makes my ears happy.
Yep. My thinking about hunting suppressors is sort of like the folks who rate hunting scopes. Most important things are - in order of importance:

1) Is it quiet enough to shoot without other hearing protection?
2) Is it lightweight and does it balance well on my rifle?
3) Is it solid and backed by good CS?

Just like some fragile scopes might have better glass…some heavy, bulky suppressors might be a few degrees quieter…but I’ll choose a lightweight can with average sound suppression over an anvil that super quiet.
All day long.

I’ve also been looking at the Ti cans lately but I’m less concerned with the “quiet” and more interested in zero/negligible POI shift. I’ve got a 30P-1 direct thread that has a 4 MOA 6 o’clock shift and two Surefire QD’s that both have little to no shift across platforms. Besides Surefire are there any other manufacturers that focus on the POI shift?

POI shift is almost entirely a function of weight to barrel length/stiffness ratio. A lighter can on a shorter/stiffer barrel has less shift than a heavy can on a long thin barrel.

I read that a lot whenever POI shift comes up but my experience has been significantly different. For example, my 300SPS has little to no POI shift compared to my 30P-1 shooting off the same rifles (Rem 700’s, 24” and 26” Sendaro/Varmint barrels) and it weighs more. Maybe lightning struck with my Surefire cans, and it’s one of the reasons I’ve been looking at their Ti can.

I’ve measured the difference using meaningful groups on the same rifle.
The ZG 6.5 and OG 6.5 shot to essentially the same point.

The rifle was sighted-in using the significantly heavier AB Raptor 8 with 3” reflex.

These targets used different ammos, but that didn’t change the POI. I just didn’t bother to take a new picture for the AB with the new ammo since it was in roughly the same POI.
