Tire carcasses

I've been next to two semi's as I was passing, that blew tires in my lifetime. It's like a bomb going off. The kind of thing that could scar a kid for life if they experienced it. I'll admit, I tend to accelerate when passing most vehicles, but even more so when passing semi's because of that.

I have been next to 1. You don't forget it for sure, my wife screamed. It was dark and could see sparks too.

I live along 281hwy. Gets a fair amount of truck traffic. Had a set of duals blow thru my cedars trees out front, back yard fence, garden, and the backyard fence again on its way out. It made it another 100yds into the pasture before it stopped. Truck never stopped.

Cheap tires, old tires, retreads...

In most cases it's hard to blame the driver, they are rarely pulling the same trailer for long. A day or two, drop it off and head off with a new one after a quick safety check.

I think thats the main problem. They just hook and go. They get paid to get a load from point A to B. A tire at 50-60lbs gets ran until it blows. The trailer owner company is to blame also. The guy in the shop doesn't want to fix a tire anymore than the truck driver wants to stop and have it fixed. Summer heat really brings those problems to light.

I know this because I have put a few miles on a heavy haul truck/trailer. Giving a tire a 50lb kick compared to a 110lb kick makes a big difference when loaded. Empty it doesn't matter.

doubt he even knew they left. Its impressive how far they will go
