In general, how drastic is the dope going to be off at 600 or 1000 yards if you’re reticle is canted off the bore a couple degrees?
Based on information from Brian Litz of Applied Ballistics, a 1 degree cant can effect a 5 inch point of impact lateral displacement at 1,000 yards.

18 inch lbs of torque on scope ring caps is laughable in a field rifle. I would say any scope ring or scope manufacturer recommending these specs needs their heads examined.

60 inch lbs/blue loktite for ring bases to action and 35 inch lbs/blue loktite for ring cap screws has proven to be bullet proof for me so far. (UM Tikka rings using SWFA and Maven scopes).

Realavid makes a neat little scope leveler where you level the reticle on a board by backlighting it has worked well for me

I've gotten used to using a plumb line and won't use anything else. There can't be anything more accurate than setting a scope level with a plumb line. Sort of similar to the card thing, but it's using gravity.
