If you've ever wondered what an 8-man SO tipi in "55" mph wind looks like...just came across this

Looks like the guyouts aren't being used but I think either way that looks nerve wracking.

Those are strong gusts but that really doesn't look like 55 mph to me - wind speeds often get overestimated.

Anyways, for strong winds and a bomb proof tent I'll take a tunnel tent any day, preferably Hilleberg. I weathered out 60+ mph winds on Denali where more than one team lost a shelter. Double poles if you're truly expecting high winds or heavy snow loads.
