I currently have a seek cimmaron , and was using trekking poles instead of a tent pole. I have decided to purchase a pole so that I can leave camp up while hunting.

The carbon pole from seek is $100, but REI has an aluminum for $30. Are there any others that you guys would suggest? Would like opinions on whether the seek pole is worth $70 more.

Seems like there was a thread exactly the same as this a few weeks ago. I use an aluminum pole with my redcliff and have no intention of changing.

Bearpaw Wilderness Designs will make you a custom sized pole. Had him make me one in alum for my Tut and it’s been great. Saved me 8oz from the original pole.

I’ve used the rei aluminum pole for two seasons now and it has worked really well. I had a piece 3D printed to slide onto the top of it.

I bought my cimmaron off of a member here with the REI pole and it’s worked well so far. If it fails somehow in the future I might look at the CF one, but not worth it for the minor weight savings now. Had some 3d printing a couple parts for it too

Mountain Laurel Designs also make their own CF poles for all their mids and will even custom make ones to fit your needs. They claim to be the lightest, strongest, CF pole on the market. Might be worth looking into.

z-packs makes carbon tent poles in a variety of sizes. I use a 48" one for my tarp as I don't have trekking poles. Elastic bound, pretty lightweight. Not sure what size you need but it may be another option.
