Tikkas with factory threaded barrels?

Is it my imagination or the barrels belled on the end to allow them to thread the rifles while keeping weight down?

The end of the barrels is flared. The shoulder measurements were .730 on my wife’s 6.5.

That was an incredibly smart move by them.
1) Hopefully, other rifle makers will do the same thing
2) Hopefully, someone will sell their original (factory threaded) 223 barrel to me as a take off barrel. Had I suspected this was coming, I would have waited to buy my 223 Tikka for another year

My Scheels now has a 308, 30-06, 300win, 7 rem mag, 6.5cm, and I think a 6.5prc in store. All 22" barrels except the 20" 308

Has anyone seen any chamberings besides 308 with the 20” barrel length? I would nab a 20” 6CM in a heartbeat. Even a 6.5CM.

The roughtech superlights yes. I got one in the safe in 6.5 cm. They're threaded m15x1 though and come with a 5/8 adapter, wish they would've just threaded them 5/8.

Thanks for that. I should’ve clarified by specifically noting the stainless T3x lites with the taper. I’m too cheap to pay for cerakote and some texturing on the stock

Agree, bought mine before these new ones were coming out. I will say though the price tag on the new ones I'm seeing are $879 and I paid $950 for the roughtech so it's not all that bad. We hunt on the coast as well so the cerakote does provide some benefits over just aesthetics compared to blued but a good no frills stainless would be best.

Are the superlite roughtechs stainless or chromoly under the cerakote? I have been wondering that because you’re right, the price difference isn’t too much if they’re stainless.

I believe they're stainless. My box says "6.5crmr lite ember SS FL" I think the SS is stainless. Appears to look like stainless with thread protector off.

Thought I saw somewhere in this thread it was said by a rep that 6mm Creedmoor lites or superlites were coming this year, but now I can't find that post. Anyone have insight?

I have tried and tried to convince myself I love my 7RM superlite and it's a great rifle, but the reality is it beats the crap out of me and I've really bought into the idea of a smaller caliber. The instant a 6CM Tikka comes out I'll be swapping... especially a 20" 5/8x24 version.

Yes, from the lips of Tikka rep at SHOT last Friday:

ALL will be threaded.

6 Creedmoor in the pipeline for Q 2 or 3 of 2025.

I'm too impatient, sending mine off to get threaded Monday.

Now if only they would do a pic rail on top instead of their current dovetail (preference).
