I just want to confess I love the Tikka UPR as a hunting rifle. It checks all the boxes for me. The 20” barrel is compact, stock is excellent ergonomically for short and long range work and the palm swell and grip gets my hand in a great position. It is about 10.5 lbs with scope so the weight makes it a steady platform without it being too heavy. It’s a CTR barreled action, so the barrel contour is thicker than the T3x. Allows for longer shot strings before groups open up. Highly recommend

Those do seem like handy rifles for multi purpose use.

It appears Tikka might have discontinued the stainless variety, as I don’t see any for sale..only blued with a tan stock.

Thats a Nice stick for sure..

If this ever comes available, I’m jumping on it. Euro Optic had a few come in last year. Excellent stock with a 20 MOA rail included. My 6.5 CM UPR is my favorite rifle and running it completely stock.

How many T3X "lighter" barrels have you shot that open up when they get hot?
Isn`t it pretty rare that ANY sporter profile barrel, regardless of brand, doesn`t open up at least some after a very few shots ( say, 3-5 ) ? What`s the old saying? " Hunting rifles are designed to be carried a lot and shot a little. " ?

No.

Have a look at the Tikka groups thread. Many of those are lite barrels, and the groups displayed are 10-30 rounds. Good stress-relieved or CHF barrels do not open up with reasonable semi-automatic round counts, other than shooter-induced issues such as heat mirage or imperfect parallax compensation.

That’s one heck of a deal. I sold my KRG Bravo cause I preferred the UPR stock for a hunting stock.
I ordered an mdt oryx cause I have 1 on a ruger american g2, shot better, and worked in my tripod better. I think the oryx will fit the tikka easier than the American, the front action screw is blind on the ruger, to swap stocks the mag release must be removed, and its a shouldered pin with a spring in the middle.
