I’ve got a tikka t3x and am throwing a 44mm objective scope on it. Any idea what height talley rings will work on this setup?

How much space did you have between the objective and the barrel?

Extra lows will work with 42mm (and probably 44mm) but may not have enough room for scope caps if that's your thing. Lows will give you a little more clearance

here are the extra lows with a Swaro 3-10x42 on a t3x. Zoom in

You need the objective bell outside diameter and the tube diameter. A lot of 44mm bells will have 50mm ODs.

(OBOD - TD)/2 gives hang, or how far below the tube the bottom of your objective bell will hang down.

For a 30mm tube:

(50-30)/2 = 10mm, so a ring with a height of 10mm from mount surface to the bottom of the cradle would put the bottom of the objective bell at the bottom of the ring.

Different manufacturers list ring height differently, and different manufacturers will have different heights that they consider low, medium, high, and xhigh.

Lows should work OK. I've got a Vortex Diamondback 50mm on my T3X on med. Talleys and I've got about 1.5 mm of clearance.

I have talley lows with my vx5hd 44mm. I had to take the scope back off to put on the leupold scope covers because I couldn't get it to tighten due to the tight clearance. This is the only photo I have of how close it is. I can get another later if you want one.

Here’s my T3x with a VX5 HD 3-15 (44 mm). I haven’t tried anything but the factory scope cover but it works.

It’s the Mesa Precision Altitude. I got in on a group buy for rokslide members a while back. I think if you search it here you’ll find a lot of info and pics.

Are those the Talley Lightweights for a 30mm tube in "Low" (i.e. .500" high?) Sorry i cant see that screenshot. Great looking rig! looking to do the exact same thing. Clearance looks good from the pic. how's the cheek weld?

Yes they are the 0.500". It looks like they are sold out on their website but the part number is 730714. The cheek weld is perfect for me. Good luck!

I have a 40mm objective with extra lows. It has plenty of clearance. I'd bet you'll be fine with 44mm and lows.

Is it just me or does the Tikka's seem to mount scopes higher than other rifles? Seems like even with low or extra low rings there is a lot of clearance between the scope and barrel.
