What’s wrong with my scope rings?

I’m looking for some help with rings and a scope. I have a Tikka T3x just mounted Hawkins Precision Featherweight rings (Highs)
Installed my Maven RS3.2 and then tried to bore sight it and my scopes turret is completely maxed out and I was never able to get it bore sighted correctly. I’m wondering if I need to switch it up and throw a 20 MOA rail and high rings on or if I’m missing something. Any help is appreciated

Most Hawkins I’ve used are directional. They will have arrows pointing (on the underside of each base) that you need to mount muzzle forward and the rear and front need to be in the correct position. Make sure you got that part right.

So I checked and the feather weights do not have any orientation on them. There’s no arrows or anything implying one left and one is right

If they’re non directional I’d try swapping them around and see if it changes things up much… if you can’t boresight somewhat close to optical center I’d be dubious of a machining issue… could use an aluminum shim or two under the rear base but that wouldn’t be my first choice.

An alignment bar would be one of the first things I'd check after mounting those up, just to make sure there isn't something causing deformation in the tube or that the two rings aren't severely out of alignment.

This thread might also be useful:

I’m going to try changing the orientation today and see if that helps. I also got the scope used. I’m wondering if resetting the turret would help as well

Any scope that dials and has a zero set/stop is not gonna dial down past the stop. If you’re trying to dial down, you need to reset the turret.

I’m pretty sure we have a couple Tikka highs laying around that we were using for pictures. They are 20 MOA. If you want to try those out, Vince could probably send you out a set to see if that fixes your issue.

Depending on configuration, the Exterra 30mm Tikka rings should be within an ounce or two of the Hawkins rings.

Hawkins website says there is a front and a rear for that model and they are marked F and R. Just a thought..

Are you looking through the bore and then the scope? Where is the sight picture looking through the barrel as compared to the reticle position on the target?

Remember when you are bore sighting that the turrets move the reticle OPPOSITE to the direction you are spinning the turret

Spinning Up actually moves the reticle down
