Sounds like you are going sportmatch but I also have the talley lows and they are solid. Before purchasing directly from them I gave them a call, they were very friendly and confirmed exactly what I needed.

Just put this together, as I saw on another thread pic there is just enough clearance with this 42mm NXS, I do not see any indication that lapping would be required. Also, the threads/Allen screws seem to be tighter and of higher quality compared to dnz or Burris extreme tactical. Just my first impression, but for the combination of price, simplicity, quality, no rail needed, these are a very good value, 50mm definitely needs next size up

I used mountain tactical rail to give me options. It has a built in recoil "pin" and drops in perfect for the Tikka action. I needed to go this route to give me options with my 34mm tube Schmidt Bender Polar 4-16. Mounted Vortex precision matched rings on it.

It would most likely be very close , if u look at the pic above with the 42mm nxs. You might want to compare profiles and lengths of you scope vs nxs. Looks like the vx5 is 1.5 inches longer, so I think it would fit, based on the scope dimensions.

Thanks ETikka. I may try the sportsmatch and see but wish they made a size between as the high ook tall. I’m looking at the DNZ medium as well. I can always flip the sports match on here (if I order from the UK) if they don’t work.

One more data point for Sportsmatch: I stripped the head taking my scope off the other day. I emailed Sportsmatch to ask what size/pitch to replace it with and they put 6 bolts in airmail for me and I had them in a few days.

Hey all, new guy here.

This thread keeps coming up at the top of Google's results when searching for "Tikka T3x scope mount", so I just wanted to add my experience with different rings for 50- and 56-mm scopes. Hope you don't mind the thread resurrection.

Anyway, I bought a rifle that came with a Hawke 2.5-10x50 mounted on Warne Maxima steel vertically-split rings. The scope cleared the barrel by about 3 mm, which seems about perfect.

I had a new 56 mm scope, though, so the Hawke and Warne combo came off immediately. The Warne rings seem well-made enough, but I don't want or even trust a clamp design that relies on the same screws to grip both the rail and the scope tube. Also, they're on the heavier side at over 160 grams in medium height.

I had a few options on hand for mounting my Zeiss 3-12x56 HT: Leupold QR and Sportsmatch HT073.

The barrel gap with the extra-high Leupold rings was excessive, so I went with the simpler SMs.

The clearance is now more like 5 mm, so it doesn't integrate quite as perfectly as the earlier setup, but it's still a nice fit. The high QR rings from Leupold would get it a bit closer to the barrel, but the SMs still save some weight and I like the four-bolt scope tube clamping a lot, plus they give you some fore-aft adjustment. I left out the recoil pin so I could slide the front ring forward; the rail clamps go plenty tight for the moderate amount of recoil the 6.5x55 rifle produces.

I'm really happy with the setup after getting it sighted in. The next thing to do will be to take it off and test whether it returns to zero.

If the Sportsmatch rings can hold zero after dismounting and remounting, then they're the clear winner for me. I like the lighter weight (lower still in the medium height), the wide scope clamping area, the adjustability, and idea of two pairs of big screws clamping directly on the rail compared to the much skinnier ones used for the drilled-and-tapped receiver mounting option.

Hope this helps anyone who's looking at scope mounting options for a Tikka.

For sure! Looks like the images in my first post aren’t loading reliably, so here’s another try and a look closer up.

24E6CFC3-A1B9-48D4-98EF-A4A6E1311935.jpeg

And the clearance seems to be about 4.5 mm using hex bits as a go/no-go gauge. Pretty happy with that, even if a few mm tighter to the barrel might look slightly nicer.

C4DD1A38-F796-4CFA-BC2A-DD2BA6ABDAF5.jpeg

I went out to the range yesterday and tested the zero before and after taking the scope off and on. The vertical plane was dead-on, but the horizontal went one click to the left. That was just with eyeballing the positioning and tightening by feel, though.

CDF4575A-2235-4946-8174-FC21E14E80EC.jpeg

That’s not too bad, but I think it would probably hold near-perfectly if I put an alignment mark on the receiver and used a torque driver. Looking forward to finding out next time.

Don't buy talley rings. Simply compare the hardware on those to some of the others mentioned here.

I use sportsmatch on one of my tikkas and they do just fine. If you want something a little fancier, I also use the Spuhr SCT 3001 on another rifle and they are super rugged as well. Neither of those offer any moa/elevation options, so if you want that you'll need to go with a rail. Also, your 50mm will not work with the T084, you will likely need the HT073.
Sorry to revive such an old thread but I was wondering what about the hardware you did not like. It seems a lot of hunters swear by these rings. I'm in the same boat so I was just curious. So far I'm leaning towards the DNZ because they seem easier to get than the sportsmatch.

The tiny screws that are supposed to hold your scope to the receiver do not inspire confidence for either short-term or long-term use. I feel the same was about Hawkins Hybrids. Either used the dovetail already on the receiver, or use a pic rail with a recoil lug.

Looking at the pictures of your scope and it’s clearance from the barrel, do you think medium SM (TO84) rings would work for a Zeiss 50mm objective? I currently have the medium rings with a 44mm scope and it works very nicely, but am changing scopes and will be putting a 50mm objective scope on it. Wondering if I need to order a HTO73 for this set up.

Maybe a couple of months too late for OP, so for anyone curious (I know I was before ordering these rings), here is a Nightforce SHV 4-14x50mm F1 with Sportsmatch T084 rings atop a stock Tikka T3X:

Hey mate, Please help a rookie wrap his head around this!
I have ordered up the new Maven Rs .3 5-30x50 to go on my Tikka T3x lite. From what i can gather these sportsmatch T084 should do the trick correct?
