Tikka T3x Forest?

I own two Tikka T3s with synthetic stocks. Local gun dealer was selling this Tikka T3X Forest 270 at cost and I couldn’t pass it up. I put my Leupold VX6HD on to complete the rig.

Anyone own a Tikka T3x Forest? It seems the Forest is the sleeper of the Tikka line with other models being much more popular/available.

I’m still trying to find a factory round it likes. The 145 grain ELD-X Precision Hunter was 1.5” at 100 yards but 130 grain Hornady American Whitetail was 1”.

I took a doe this morning with a Tikka Forest in .260 Rem. It likes factory 120 grain Barnes TTSX.

Is that a heavy for caliber bullet? None of my Tikkas shoot the heavier for caliber bullets as well as the medium size.

I don't think so. I believe 140 might be heavy, but 140s wouldn't be a problem if I have a 1:8 twist rate like my Savage in .260 Rem also.
I currently zero at 200 yards. This Wednesday I'm hoping the panic buying will be done with so I can practice and get comfortable with some longer distances. At that point I think I'll switch to 140s, unless I have a 1:9 twist rate; then I believe 130s may be my cap.

I picked up a T3 Forest in 7mm on a deal when the X's came out. I really like the stock profile. Shoots excellent too

I love my T3 Forest! Factory Remington Accutip and Nosler Accubond shoot to same point of impact. Runs about 3/4 inch at 100 with both loads.

Yes, hold fine. Haven't had any shift in zero.

Last year took a buck at around 60 degrees and 260 yards. A fee days later took a doe at around 20 degrees and 110 yards.

Checked zero this year, right on. Temp was around 75-80 degrees.

Ok good to hear. I was curious with the wood stock.

The T3 Forest is what I was looking to buy last year(2021) but had to settle for a T3X due to not being available. Nice accurate gun, just not as aesthetically appealing. I'll probably switch the stock out to a Forest if I come across one at a fair price. In 6.5cm, it seems to like Norma whitetail 140gr, tight groups.

Midway USA has “coming soon” for the Forest but the price has been increased over $200. It’s a nice rifle but I prefer the modularity of the Tikka T3x stock. I’ve added the vertical grip and wider fore end mods and its like a new rifle.
