I recently picked up 2 new Tikka T3 Strata's in 30-06, one for the wife and one for myself. I'm having major issues trying to get the bolt knob off one of them to clean the firing pin. The other one comes off no problem. I've tried tapping it with a wood punch, penetrating heat, brute arm strength...

These particular Tikka models come with a thin teflon coating on the bolt which is what I'm guessing is making this bolt knob so difficult to remove. Any suggestions? I know cleaning the firing is not something everyone does very often and I could just soak the bolt and blow it out to clean but these bolt knobs are suppose to come off.

Look at the one you took apart, watch the firing pin ears that hold the pin move as you slightly spin the pin. If it’s not lined up it can be a pain.

My Tikka bolt handle was a very tight fit in the dovetail and was really tough to remove. I ended up having to use a piece of plastic which I used to move pistol rear sights in the dovetail and slowly hit it out with a hammer.

Try wiggling your Allen wrench back and forth and up and down while pulling on the bolt handle. I had a tight handle that I had to manipulate the firing pin position. It slowly came out. Just had to pull while messing with the Allen wrench to get the flats lined up.
